The Beginning 2010

2009 has been a year to remember.  There has been a lot of positive and negatives things but overall it has been a very good year. 2010 however, is going to be a whole lot better. I have self declared this year as our year. Our being myself and Megan, seeing as were going to be spending it together finally. In February I’m moving and life as I know it will completely change. It’s going to be a year of opportunity’s and hopefully success. I’m determined to get things done and to do what I want to do for once. I’m going to be pressing on with the DJ front, and I’m going to try and get myself booked to as many places as possible. I didn’t really send many demos out before but once I move it’s full steam ahead. I’m also going to learn how to Megamix and I’m going to stay focused on producing better tracks. I have a feeling 2010 will be a very very good year. If you have been keeping track of things you will of seen that “2009 collection” was finished of with Volume 9 and the series has now come to a close. Of course with the new year comes brand new episodes of the London Sounds Exposed show with myself and Scorch. We have a lot of tricks up our sleeve for 2010, so don’t forget to tune in every week at 6-8pm GMT time on Thursday. Of course other then my radio show there will be the beginning of the “2010 Collection” which will come your way sometime in February. I have a lot of things planned for the next series which is why I am using the month of January to get prepared for it, there will even be new voice overs in the new series. There will also be a brand new mix coming your way from the Global Hardcore Alliance and a new mix by myself and Bluecore for Digitally Imported Radio. Thank you to everyone who has supported and followed me over the years, lets make this one a year to remember!

I have plans to do all sorts of things in 2010. One of them includes updating my website to make things more easily accessible. I would like to re-design the current theme and to integrate soundcloud a little bit better. When that change will be made I have no idea but expect it in early 2010. You will also see the return of my weekly blog posts soon as well, I’ve been very busy recently which is why I have strayed off course a little bit but I assure you they will return again. Speaking of websites, if you’re not already feel free to follow me on Twitter or Facebook.

2009 definitely had a lot to offer. There were so many great songs, TV shows aired and movies which are very memorable. For example David Tennant is no longer the Doctor in Doctor Who. I must say I was very sad when the transformation happened and I even shed a tear or two, it is my favourite show after all. Top Gear was back in full force and as awesome as ever. My favourite two movies of the year would have to of been Gran Torino and District 9. Both are must sees if you haven’t seen them already. There were also far to many songs for me to name, there was some incredible music released in 2009 it was unbelievable. I could sit here and name songs all day if I had to name my favourites. One song in particular stuck out for me though, and that was the Andy Blueman remix of Tuvan by Gaia (Armin van Buuren).

Sorry to cut things short though, but I really must get back to work on all of these projects. I really hope everyone had a great Christmas, and I hope you all have a fantastic 2010, you will hear a whole lot more from me very soon. Leave a comment and let me know your plans for 2010.

Jimo – “2009 Collection” (Trance Series)

This is a series of Trance mixes I created between January 2009 to December 2009. I created this mix series so I could promote my own name within the Trance scene and to share my love for the genre. My mixing techniques improved throughout the series and I learnt a lot from listening to feedback from all sorts of people on this collection. I would like to say thank you to all of the people who downloaded every set and gave some very insightful input, you guys know who you are. The artwork for the series was created by Nesma and Cyborgmatt. Nesma created the Phoenix logo which you see on just about everything I do and Cyborgmatt did the photoshop brushing. In each mix there are mix liners by Don Lafontine as well, who sadly passed away last year. Remember if you like the music, please go out and buy it to support the artists and the scene.

Jimo – “2009 Collection” Volume 9

I didn’t think I would get this mix finished in time. I’ve been so bogged down with my radio show and work that I was struggling to find time to complete it. In the end I managed to pull through and I now proudly present to you the final mix in the “2009 Collection” series, Volume 9. I decided to mix a few more vocals in this mix and to do a bit more experimental mixing. In the end I think it turned out well and I’m very happy with it. I hope everyone enjoys the mix and I hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. The special “2009 Collection” artwork will be finished by new years eve. Week In Review 07/12/09 (Birthday & Updates Finally!)

It’s been two weeks or so since I’ve wrote a blog post. I felt that I wasn’t writing anything interesting so I decided to give it a break for a couple of weeks just so I have something to talk about. Well I’m back now and I do indeed have some interesting things to talk about. It was my birthday the other day and I turned 19. I had a very good day, I got some money from my parents and the P Diddy Cologne called “I Am King – Sean John” from Megan. The cologne smells absolutely amazing, I highly recommend it. In the evening I went out for dinner with my Mum, Dad and Andrew. We went to Pizza Express and it was my first time going to one, it turned out to be really good! The most frustrating part of it was eating pizza with a knife and fork, I’m more used to using my hands. After a bit of frustration I decided it would be easier to just pick the pizza up whole and eat it. I’m a pig, I know. Overall I had a good day, the only thing that could of made it better was Megan and John being there for it.

You might of noticed in that last paragraph that I mentioned that my Dad went to dinner with us, well the fact is he did. After a long struggle he was finally released from hospital care, and he’s now back at home. I was starting to get very sick of going up to the hospital constantly, especially with it being in Tooting instead of Kingston like it was before. He is still getting regular home visits but things are a lot better then they were before. I was getting scared that he wouldn’t ever be back to normal, but it turns out that he’s almost completely back to normal. It’s quite bizarre what the plasma exchange did for him. But anyway, he’s back at home now and he’s already complaining about getting me to install Windows 7 for him. I will get around to it eventually, I’m sure.

Work has been going really well recently. There have been a few things that have been irritating me though. Mainly uncooperative customers who complain until they get what they want. I wish people would stop taking things out on me personally. I work for the company, and I abide by the company rules and guidelines. If I tell you that I can’t make a transaction, it isn’t because I dislike you or because I have a problem with you. It’s because I will be breaking the rules and my job will be liable. I guess what I’m trying to say is, don’t hate the player, hate the game… or in this case, don’t hate the employee, hate the company. Problems aside though, things are going great. I’ve been told I’m doing very well at my job and I’m happy about it. I’ve also made a bunch of new friends which is also a bonus. The Christmas rush is starting flock in soon as well, so I’m sure I will have lots of fun stories to tell eventually.

Things are going absolutely brilliantly on the music side of things. The last post I made was announcing my brand new radio show. If you didn’t read the post, you can catch the London Sounds Exposed show every Thursday at 6-8pm GMT time, only on Digitally Imported Radio. The show has been going really well, the third episode airs this coming Thursday. I’m trying to get as many people involved as possible in the show. In the next episode I’ve got some new songs from a lot of unsigned producers, and in the upcoming weeks I’ve got a bunch of guest DJs who will be playing some exclusive guestmixes. I’m really excited about the future of the show, it’s been a long time in the making and I’m glad it’s finally airing! On the other side of the spectrum, I haven’t forgotten about “2009 Collection” Volume 9. I have been busy with work this past week and I’ve been mentioning on my Twitter and Facebook that I will be starting work on it soon. Well I can now confirm that Volume 9 has indeed been started, and it will be finished either by the end of this week, or next, more then likely this week though. The final mix in the “2009 Collection” series, Volume 10 will be released on New Years Eve and it will feature a showcase of my favourite songs from the whole series, as well as brand new songs. Both mixes are really something to look forward to, and a lot of effort is being put into them so I hope you guys will enjoy them as much as I enjoy making them. Another thing to keep an eye out for is a brand new mix by DJ Bluecore and myself. It will be played exclusively on Digitally Imported / Happy Hardcore radio in the near future, so be on the look out for that.

I apologize for the lack of updates. I’m going to try and keep up to date with things from now on. I really appreciate all of the support I get on my projects, so thanks for being patient with me. I will be doing some website maintenance this week as well to add a “Radio” page. The Radio page will allow people to view the tracklist of each of my radio show episodes as well as search for them. Until next week, I hope everyone has a good week/weekend!
