About

My name is James Ives and I’m a radio DJ and an administrator for a popular online gaming community named Gaming-Resources, or Team Gabe as it’s now called. I’m English and I currently live in London. The name Jimo is simply a shortened version of my name with a twist, Jim is short for James, add an o and you have Jimo. I first got into Music production and DJing in early 1999 after I heard “Pilgrim 2000” by Scott Brown. I don’t know what it is about that song but it really drew me into Hardcore music and I really wanted to find more. After searching the internet I came across Happy Hardcore radio on Winamp. I used to listen to DJs such as Silver, Milo, Scott Devotion and Andy Myers. My favourite show out of all of them would have to be the “UK Hardcore Show” ran by Scott Devotion and Andy Myers every Wednesday night. The combination of the two really worked well together and I distinctively remember Andy Myers caning the badger song which was always a good laugh. Just after discovering Happy Hardcore Radio I found Digitally Imported, the parent company and website of the Happy Hardcore radio station. Which was good because I was also looking for a place for Trance music after hearing “Gamemaster” by Lost Tribe for the first time. Digitally Imported radio quickly became my favourite place to go for music. After several years of listening I finally got my own pair of turntables form the local music shop, Guilford Light and Sound. My first setup was a pair of Pioneer CDJ800s and a DJM400 mixer which I used for many years. After buying my first setup I created this website and started posting up my own mixtapes. Eventually I started getting my own mixes accepted by Happy Hardcore Radio in 2006. My first mix on the Hardcore channel on Digitally Imported Radio was titled “NRRRRRR” and it’s still in rotation today. In early 2008 I met DJ Bluecore who introduced me to a Swedish radio station named NERadio. In 2009 I upgraded my equipment and I bought a pair of industry standard Pioneer CDJ1000s and a DJM700 mixer. My mixing technique has improved so much over the years and I’m incredibly happy with it. I’ve now got mixes playing on the Trance channel of Digitally Imported Radio and I’m also a member of the Global Hardcore Alliance. To this day I’m still creating mixes and constantly improving. I’m also working on my own productions which I hope to weave into my sets in 2010. I feel that the future is very promising, I’m incredibly happy I’ve found something I feel this passionate about.

I have been playing computer games since I was around 6 years of age and my first console was the Super Nintendo which my brother Andrew owned, so I had to play whenever he went out with his friends. When I was about 7 or so years old my Dad bought me a Nintendo64 for Christmas which I played to death.  As the years progressed I got involved with the Half-Life Radio community with Cyborgmatt and then Gaming-Resources was formed. The Gaming-Resources network was founded around the site Half-Life Radio. After the Half-Life Radio community took a turn for the worse Cyborgmatt and myself decided to form the Gaming-Resources network. The core group of people from Half-Life Radio all joined up and we are all still together today with a few new members, even after 6 years. Eventually I started playing the game Planetside and then World of Warcraft where I met the guild Raven Guard, who I still stay in close contact with today. I don’t really play too many computer games lately mainly because none of them are very good right now. It feels like everything is recycled or too easy, hopefully that changes in the future. In the words of Athene, show me the games.

I feel as if my life has only just begun. In 2007 I met my girlfriend Megan whom I love to death and I wouldn’t trade that for the world. I’m currently working on relocating to Alaska in America to be with her which I feel will be a really nice change. I plan to go to college to study Audio Forensics there and start a career within the police force. I got off to a rough start in life but I’ve turned things around and I can’t wait to see what the future will bring.

Below you can find links to websites of my friends and sites which I have been involved with past and present. I would like to give a huge thank you to everyone from Gaming-Resources for help with this website. You guys know who you are. As you can see it has improved quite a bit.
